Recycling
has been practiced for decades. The need to recycle
rose during the "Great Depression" of the
1930's. It became popular again during the 1970's and then
declined, but because of the rise in popularity and use of
electronics and computers, the need for recycling and it's
benefits is back!
E-cycling is the term used to describe the
process for electronic waste disposal which encompasses,
both electronics recycling and computer recycling. Kansas
ewaste recycler, Electronix Recyclers Inc. follows the Reuse, Reduce and
Recycle process in handling e-waste at it's Wichita
recycling center.
Recycling
is the process of turning used materials into new
products. It's a key part of modern waste reduction and
the "Reuse, Reduce and Recycle" waste hierarchy.
It's benefits include, reduction of fresh raw materials
and energy usage, reduction of air, land and water
pollution and reduction of other potentially harmful
elements in our environment.

Non
functioning or defective equipment is reduced or broken down into it's
core component parts and base materials. All tags and stickers are removed and it
is separated before it is sold
to reprocessors and other carefully screened, buyers who
will eventually utilize these commodities in the manufacturing of
brand new
products.
The
process includes: 1. Electronics
and computer equipment is received and marked
for inventory. It is tested and evaluated to see if
it can be used for it's original purpose. If so, it's
cleaned, refurbished and hard drives are erased in
accordance with DOD standards. Equipment is then resold to
consumers or companies or donated for reuse.

Finally,
all other unrecycleable equipment is reduced or broken down into it's
core component parts and base materials. All tags and stickers are removed and
it is separated before it is sold
to reprocessors or other carefully screened, buyers who
will salvage certain materials or commodities because of
their intrinsic value or hazardous nature.
